The idea of the Bassa via del Garda (#BVG) came from the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano, in collaboration with Azienda Regionale delle Foreste (now ERSAF) almost 14 years ago.

It is a path that develops across the dorsal facing the Garda Lake, including stops from the coast of Salo’ to Limone del Garda. This path is dedicated to the memory of Roberto Montagnoli, who was an enthusiastic admirer of the area, as well as, founder of the publishing company Grafo and the magazine AB, a precious font of information and valorization of the Garda area.

To go into this environment it means falling into a different and secluded world, for some aspects a sort of unrepeatable, both for the landscape, naturalistic or historic, only few among the lake goers really know. Passing through BVG you will be delighted by the green of the olive trees and the contrast of the ilex (similar to an oak tree) with the winter snow of the Baldo Mountain, and to be wrapped with the delicious scent of calycanthus in winter time, with jasmine and zagare in spring time. Cyclamen that color and cover the forest in summer, and with the inebriant scent of oleans in autumn.

You can walk through beeches and birches and dive in the warm lake water between palms and agaves that surround the banks: to pass by hills surrounded by cypresses or climb between rocks, ravines and overhangs; to go into the narrow northern fiord, or to enjoy the open spaces, almost marine, in the southern side of the lake.

You can walk on antique cobbled street or on trails, or dive in between walls made by lemon trees (limonaie) or in between paved stones in quiet tiny towns or hermitages and solitary churches.

It is not only a journey into space, but into time, forgetting traffic and stress.

The stops set for regular hikers are in between 15-20km, to offer the opportunity to flavor and discover with calm the many reasons of interest reserved by this area: drops are in between 65mt. – lake level - and 1000mt.–most elevated area- (you can still reach peak at 2000mt. )
